MeitY Delegation Reviews Progress of IIT Guwahati's M.Des. in Electronic Product Design

A delegation from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, visited IIT Guwahati on 4 June 2026 to review the progress of the M.Des. in Electronic Product Design (EPD) and Executive Development Programme.

The M.Des. programme in Electronic Product Design, launched in July 2022, is offered under a Memorandum of Understanding between MeitY and IIT Guwahati. It aims to develop highly skilled professionals in electronic product design by integrating design, technology, and innovation, preparing graduates to design and develop electronic products, services, and applications across diverse sectors while equipping them with Industry 4.0 competencies, including virtual prototyping, digital product development, and advanced design methodologies.

The review meeting brought together a MeitY delegation comprising Smt. Sunita Verma, Smt. Hemlata Gupta, and Ms. Sithara Ravindran.
Prof. Pratul C Kalita, Head of the Department of Design, IIT Guwahati, presented the programme's progress, key achievements, and future plans, after which students interacted with the visiting delegation and demonstrated their design prototypes.

The reviewers appreciated the quality of the students' work and expressed satisfaction with the overall progress of the programme.
