An MTech in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence is being offered by the School of Interdisciplinary Studies and Sustainability, IIT Guwahati. The programme is in hybrid mode — online classes combined with on-campus labs and exams.

The program aims to empower learners to drive technological transformation and contribute meaningfully to industry and society.

The programme targets sectors ranging from agriculture and healthcare to defence and smart infrastructure. Applications for the inaugural batch are open until 15 July 2026, with classes commencing on 10 August.

A notable feature is that no GATE score is required; candidates will be assessed through a written test or interview. The programme runs for a minimum of two years and can be extended up to five, with multiple entry and exit points allowing students to leave with a PG Certificate, PG Diploma, MSc (Engineering), or the full MTech degree — and rejoin later if needed.

Graduates will be equipped for roles including robotics engineer, AI/ML engineer, computer vision specialist, and automation engineer. Applicants must hold a four- or five-year bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field with at least 60% marks.
