IIT Guwahati celebrated the 12th International Day of Yoga with around 300 students, faculty, staff, and local community members participating in a mass yoga session and demonstrations.

IIT Guwahati observed the 12th International Day of Yoga with the participation of around 300 students, faculty members, staff, and members of the local community.
The programme began with a welcome address by Prof. Alagarsamy Perumal, Dean of Students' Affairs, followed by addresses from Prof. Devendra Jalihal, Director of IIT Guwahati, and Shri Sudarshan Das of ISKCON.
The programme included a mass yoga session based on the Common Yoga Protocol, conducted by instructors from the Vivekananda Kendra Institute of Culture (VKIC), Guwahati.

The programme also included demonstrations by members of the campus community.

As part of the lead-up to the celebrations, the Sports Board, IIT Guwahati organized a Yogasana Competition for school students on 14 June 2026. Around 30 students from nearby schools took part in the competition. The event was aimed at encouraging healthy habits and the practice of yoga from an early age, while fostering community engagement and awareness about the benefits of yoga.
