The recent visit of Mr HORII Iwao, State Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Mr ONO Keiichi, Ambassador of Japan, was a diplomatic milestone.

IIT Guwahati has long-term collaborations with Japanese institutions and is currently hosting over 10 honorary professors from Japan. In just two years, 70 Japanese students have participated in joint degree programmes.

This partnership isn't just about signatures; it’s about creating a research environment where scholars and scientists are comfortable working and studying in both countries.

Streamlining the path to Japan

Ambassador ONO Keiichi has committed the Embassy of Japan to working with IIT Guwahati’s officials to further streamline the visa process for IITG students. This move directly supports the institute's mission to increase student mobility, making it easier for researchers to move between Guwahati and Japan.

Showcasing innovation for a global audience

The delegation also toured the campus. Key highlights included:

  • Nanotechnology: A look inside the Clean Room facilities at the Centre for Nanotechnology.

  • Robotics in Action: A live demonstration of the robotic arm at the IITG Research Park.

  • Healthcare Frontiers: A briefing on the Assam Advanced Healthcare Innovation Institute (AAHII), showcasing how local healthcare solutions can have global applications.
