Global Degrees for Local Impact
The new strategic partnership between IIT Guwahati and Coventry University Group (CUG) is designed to turn academic research into "real-world change". At its core, the agreement introduces Joint Doctoral Programmes, allowing PhD candidates to work under dual supervision and earn dual-award degrees — opening a door to international research careers.

Scaling "AI for One Health"
The collaboration targets one of the most critical challenges in modern technology: integrating Artificial Intelligence and Data Science into healthcare. This initiative will focus on:
Medical Devices: Developing AI-driven tools for faster diagnostics.
Drug Discovery: Accelerating the path from the lab to the pharmacy.
Research Hospital Integration: Research will be anchored by IITG’s upcoming 400-bed research hospital, where data scientists will work alongside medical professionals.

Why this matters for the UK and India
Professor Richard Dashwood (Coventry University) and Prof. Devendra Jalihal (IIT Guwahati) emphasized that this is about applied research. By pooling resources, both institutions are positioning themselves at the forefront of the global "One Health" movement—ensuring that AI innovations are both technologically advanced and societally impactful.
