Vigyan Pratibha: IIT Guwahati Hosts Training for Secondary School Teachers

From 20–22 May 2026, IIT Guwahati hosted a three-day residential workshop for Science and Mathematics teachers from Northeast states.

The Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE) in collaboration with the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai, conducted Vigyan Pratibha at IIT Guwahati.


The programme was meant to provide professional development for teachers of mathematics and science and provide them with novel teaching approaches. Their sessions blended practical classroom strategies, hands-on activities, and deeper subject understanding to help teachers inspire students in science and mathematics.


The participants included teachers from state government secondary schools across the northeast, including Mizoram, Manipur, Tripura, Nagaland, Sikkim, Assam, and BTC area of Assam.


Distinguished resource persons included Prof. Deepa Chari, Prof. Aniket Sule, Prof. Mukul Mhaskey, from HBCSE; Prof. Ajit Mohan Srivastava from Institute of Physics, Bhubaneswar; Prof. Sumana Dutta from IIT Guwahati; and Prof. Soumen Manna from Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics. The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. Hemant B. Kaushik, Dean OES, IIT Guwahati. Prof. Deepa Chari delivered main address, and Mr. Dilip Boro, Joint Registrar & HoS OES, gave the vote of thanks.
