Fostering Indo-Bhutan Ties: Sherubtse College Educational Tour
A delegation of 22 student council members and two guides from Sherubtse College, Bhutan’s oldest higher education institution, visited the campus as part of a five-day educational tour supported by the Indo-Bhutan Foundation. This visit, spanning 12 to 16 March 2026, aimed to provide student leaders with both academic and cultural exposure.

IIT Guwahati and Sherubtse College maintain a long-standing relationship, characterised by regular faculty and student exchanges.
Thinley Namgyel, Dean of Student Affairs at Sherubtse College, emphasised the value of such interactions, noting that while relationships exist at leadership levels, the most fundamental impact comes from "people-to-people connections."

During their time on campus, the group explored the School of Agro and Rural Technology (SART) laboratories, the Central Instrumentation Facility, and the Student Gymkhana.
Operation Sadbhavana: Inspiring Young Women in STEM
Simultaneously, the Institute welcomed students from Mahabodhi School, Arunachal Pradesh, as part of an All-Girls National Integration Tour. Organised under the aegis of the Gajraj Corps, Indian Army, through Operation Sadbhavana, the visit focused on empowering young women by providing a glimpse into high-technology career paths.

The participants explored the world of innovation at the Centre for Drone Technology, guided by Prof. P. K. Das, and delved into the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science with Prof. Patil at the Mehta Family School of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. These interactions in cutting-edge STEM fields were designed to empower the students to aspire for academic excellence and envision themselves as future contributors to science and engineering.

Nurturing the Builders of Tomorrow
Whether through international diplomatic foundations or national integration initiatives, IIT Guwahati remains dedicated to creating inclusive spaces for learning. The Institute wishes these bright young minds from Bhutan and Arunachal Pradesh the very best, hoping they return to their respective communities inspired to become the institution builders and innovators of tomorrow.
