IIT Guwahati Organises Felicitation Ceremony and Get Together to Honour Retiring Employees

The ceremony witnessed the presence of distinguished guests, faculty members, officers, staff, and well-wishers from across the Institute community. During the programme, speakers highlighted the professionalism, integrity, diligence, and devotion to duty consistently demonstrated by both employees throughout their illustrious careers.

The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT Guwahati) organized a Felicitation-cum-Get Together Ceremony to honour the superannuation of two esteemed members of the Institute family, Mr. Romen Ch. Dutta and Mr. Debojit Kr. Borah, in recognition of their long years of dedicated and exemplary service to the institution.

The ceremony witnessed the presence of distinguished guests, faculty members, officers, staff, and well-wishers from across the Institute community, who gathered to celebrate the remarkable careers and contributions of the retiring employees.

Mr. Romen Ch. Dutta, a native of Dergaon in Assam’s Golaghat district, joined IIT Guwahati on 27 September 1996 as a Physical Training Instructor during the formative years of the Institute. Over the years, he played a pivotal role in promoting sports, physical fitness, discipline, and holistic development among students and members of the campus community.

Mr. Debojit Kr. Borah, hailing from Jorhat, Assam, joined the Institute on 30 May 2000 as a Junior Mechanic. Through his technical expertise, sincerity, and commitment to excellence, he made significant contributions towards the efficient functioning of the Institute’s technical and infrastructural operations.

During the programme, speakers highlighted the professionalism, integrity, diligence, and devotion to duty consistently demonstrated by both employees throughout their illustrious careers. Their disciplined work ethic and unwavering commitment to institutional values earned them immense respect and admiration among colleagues and the wider IIT Guwahati fraternity.

Mr. Romen Ch. Dutta and Mr. Debojit Kr. Borah attained superannuation on 31 May 2026 and 30 April 2026 respectively, bringing to a close distinguished careers marked by dedication, compassion, and meritorious service.

Speaking on the occasion, members of the Institute community expressed heartfelt gratitude for their invaluable contributions to IIT Guwahati and conveyed best wishes for a healthy, peaceful, and fulfilling retired life ahead.

The ceremony concluded on a warm and emotional note, celebrating not only the professional accomplishments of the retirees but also the enduring legacy they leave behind for future generations of employees at IIT Guwahati.
